Carla Dell

Prior to becoming a Personal Trainer, Carla served in the Australian Regular Army for 26 years where she was employed primarily as a cartographer, instructor and top-rope climbing, caving and abseiling instructor. She experienced great satisfaction in taking military and civilian members to their mental and physical limits, motivating them to achieve feats they never believed to be within their capabilities!

Carla attained Master Trainer status at the Australian Institute of Fitness, Gold Coast. Her specialty qualifications include:

  • Advanced Programming
  • Advanced Nutrition
  • Gym Instruction
  • Strength and Sports Conditioning
  • Personal Training (one-on-one)
  • Rehabilitation
  • Older Adult and Children's Trainer
  • Diabetes preferred trainer
  • Rehab Trainer

Carla is passionate about improving individuals’ quality of life, from the insecure teen with low self esteem to the more mature members of the population with health issues such as diabetes, osteoporosis, limited range of movement, etc. After an Army career of living and playing hard, Carla has first hand understanding and empathy for those with weaknesses and aches resulting from injury and, combined with her encouraging and highly motivating approach to fitness training, easily introduces people of all ages to the benefits of maintaining a healthy and fit lifestyle through healthy eating, exercise and informed lifestyle choices.

Gail Cook

Gail is a qualified Personal Trainer having completed her training with at the Human Performance Centre, Gold Coast. She currently holds Certificate III and Certificate IV in Fitness with Strength and Conditioning.

Gail spent the majority of her adult life as a Computer Consultant/Analyst/Programmer, working (generally) from home for large international companies. Technically she was constantly challenged and rewarded, but her life seemed incomplete. She lacked social interaction and struggled with her weight and self esteem. A few years ago Steve, Gail's husband (and greatest supporter), bought Gail a gift voucher for 18 one-on-one personal training sessions for Christmas. That gesture has helped her to, quite literally, change her life.

In Gail's own words:

The gift voucher was for some training sessions with Carla, owner of Strength2Strength Personal Training (Robina, QLD), but it actually took me three months to get the courage to pick up the phone to make that first appointment. I was ashamed of myself and felt really embarrassed about my body. But after (yet another) encouraging phone call from Carla, I finally presented myself - warts and all - for an initial assessment and then began training in earnest. Since then, I have changed my body and regained my self-esteem and self-confidence.

I now know how great it feels to be fit and strong and ready for any challenge. I've climbed Mt Warning, gone abseiling and I even trekked the Kokoda Track with Carla and our team of 12 in Aug 2008. Yes... ME !! They say walking the Kokoda Track changes your life - and it certainly did for me. We returned to our lives pre-Kokoda, and I couldn't settle. I couldn't get excited about sitting at my desk to analyse yet another problematic computer program..... so I decided to become a Personal Trainer to be able to have the positive impact on others' lives as my trainer had had on mine! I am now doing something I really enjoy, and get tremendous satisfaction from helping others to develop their self confidence, strength, fitness and general health so that they may get the very best out of every day!
